Teams begin work on Ahdab oilfield
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Teams have begun work on the Ahdab oilfield in western Kut city in preparation for excavation works, the Iraqi minister of oil said on Wednesday. “The Ministry of Oil appreciates the efforts made by the Chinese al-Waha Company, which is assigned to carry out the Ahdab oil projects at nearly $3 billion for the production of crude oil at a rate of 115,000 barrels per day as a first stage,” Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani said in his speech at a ceremony held at the oilfield and attended by Wassit governor and the Chinese ambassador to Iraq. “The natural gas extracted from the field and part of the crude will be used to run al-Zubeidiya electricity station in northern Kut,” the minister added. Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 2
