Center charges Barzani’s bodyguards of atrocities
SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Metro Center for Defending Journalists Rights announced today that some of President Masoud Barzani bodyguards attacked journalists during Barzani’s visit to the Turkish and Iranian bombardment damaged areas. In a statement, copy received by IraqiNews.com, Metro center called for putting the bodyguards to justice according to Journalists’ Law. It added that Barzani visited the damaged areas, where some of his bodyguard confiscated the cameras of the journalists and erased all pictures. “This contravenes with the Press Law signed by Barzani in 2008″, the statement added. The center called upon Barzani “to intervene and protect journalists rights”. During the last few weeks, the Kurdish border villages are under heavy Turkish and Iranian fires under the pretext of chasing the PKK and PJAK parties. Hundreds of citizens demonstrated in protest for these bombings which led to tens of casualties and material losses in the region. RM (TI) 660
