Iranian channel’s reporter says ‘Peshmerga forces attacked us’
SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: A correspondent of the Iranian Sahar channel said on Tuesday that the channel’s two-people crew was attacked by Peshmerga forces. “We were beaten by Peshmerga and security forces, which confiscated our equipments and cameras,” Kamal Nouri told IraqiNews.com news agency. No word was immediately available from Peshmerga forces on the incident. Nearly 400 Kurds demonstrators had gathered in Sulaimaniya‘s central square on Sunday afternoon to continue their demands for political reforms and to protest corruption, a lack of basic services and unemployment. A few hours later, the peaceful protest turned violent when dozens of angry protesters blocked streets in central Sulaimaniya and set tires on fire, security officials in Sulaimaniya said. Riot police used tear gas and some used live bullets to disperse crowd. The unrest in Sulaimaniya, starting since February 17, has killed at least seven people and injured more than 250 health officials said. SH (TP) 950
