UNESCO celebrates World Press Freedom Day

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A festival was held today under the auspice of the UNESCO to celebrate the World Press Freedom Day. The slogan of the festivity was “the New Media”. Dr. Abdulameer Faisal said during the festivity, which was attended by IraqiNews.com news agency, that the “Iraqi media has become free that gained it a new identity”. He pointed out that the “electronic media has prevailed in the Iraqi press institutions.” Dhia Al-Sarai, of the UNESCO information and communications department, said that the greatest achievement is the establishment of Iraqi Internet Writers Federation.  Journalist Imad Jassim told IraqiNews.com news agency that “the Iraqi journalists have the bigger role in making the changes in Iraq on the levels of freedom of opinion and achievement of social justice”.
