UNSG’s Special Representative for Iraq in Kirkuk, meeting its inhabitants:
KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq Ad Melkert, has arrived in the northern oil-city of Kirkuk on Wednesday, where he met a number of its inhabitants at the headquarters of the Province’s Council, to listen to their demands. “Melkert has arrived in Kirkuk early on Wednesday and held a meeting with a number of its inhabitants at the Conference Hall of the Province’s Council,” a source close to the Council told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the motive of the visit “is to listen to the problems of Kirkuk and discuss means to settle them.” He said the meeting “had comprised representatives of different communities, nationalities and religiouns in Kirkuk,” adding that Melkert would hold a news conference after the meeting.
