Water level in Darbandikhan dam down by 3 meters
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Water level in Darbandikhan dam is down by more than three meters compared to last year (2008), the dam’s director said on Saturday, stressing that this issue will affect electricity hydraulically generated by the dam. “Water level in 2009 is 3.12 meters less than that of 2008,” Rahman Khani told IraqiNews.com news agency. “This issue will not affect electricity supplies to Kurdistan as there are other power generation sources in the region,” he said. Darbandikhan dam is 66 km west of Sulaimaniya city, which lies 364 km northeast of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS 1
