A team of 13 U.S. Marine Corps trainers assigned to the Iraqi Marine Training Team 03 gather for a photo as the last Marine team of Operation New Dawn to leave Iraq, in Umm Qasr, in this handout photograph taken on October 14, 2011 and obtained on October 21, 2011. U.S. President Barack Obama on October 21, 2011, said on he would pull U.S. troops from Iraq this year, almost nine years after the U.S. invasion, after he failed to convince Iraq that several thousand troops should remain in part as a balance against neighboring Iran. IqMTT-03 was the last Marine team of Operation New Dawn that left Iraq in transition to Kuwait. The Marines, from Camp Pendleton California assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force that deployed in May, spent the last several months training Iraqi marines in various skills such as patrolling, night operations, weapons training and search and seizure techniques.
