Arab League chief to visit Baghdad Tuesday for talks with Iraqi officials
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit is scheduled to visit Baghdad Tuesday for talks with Iraqi officials on means of combating terrorism and helping displaced families return to their homes.
According to official Iraqi newspaper Alsabaah, Abul Gheit will hold talks with Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adil Abul Mahdi to discuss a number of important files, particularly Iraq’s presidency of the Arab ministerial council later this month.
The ministerial council, slated for September 10, will probe a raft of high-priority issues, especially the situation in the Palestinian territories, as well as turmoil in Yemen and Libya.
Earlier, Abul Gheit reiterated the pan-Arab body’s support for Iraq in the post-Islamic State era, as well as the reconstruction of Iraqi cities.
