Basra Council allocates free land for foreign consulates
Basra (IraqiNews.com) Basra Governorate Council issued a statement on Wednesday noting that the council voted for allocation of free land in a closed secure area within the province for foreign countries to open their embassies and consulates, with a probable chance for the existing consulates in Basra, also moving to the new area.
The decision aims to attract foreign countries to open their consulates in Basra province inside a guarded area by the security forces. It is worth knowing that, Basra has four consulates belong to the United States, Russia, Iran, and Egypt. The Council also expects other foreign countries such as Italy and Netherlands to open consulates in the near future.
