Bomb blast kills Iraqi man, wounds two of his sons in Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi man was killed and two of his sons were wounded in a bomb attack in Diyala province Sunday, a security source was quoted as saying.
Speaking to the Arabic-language Alghad Press news website, the source said that a roadside bomb went off in a village on the outskirts of Jalawla, northeast of Diyala, leaving a civilian dead and two of his sons wounded.
According to the source, a security force rushed to the blast site and carried the wounded into a nearby hospital for treatment, while the dead man was moved to the forensic medicine department.
Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
