Environment Ministry removes mines from Seeba Gas field in Basra

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Mines Affairs Directorate in the Environment Ministry in cooperation with Civil Defense Directorate in Basra province managed to reserve IQD 50 billion from the cost of a campaign to clear the areas of Seeba Gas field of mines in Basra.

A statement by the Environment Ministry quoted the Spokesperson of the Ministry Amir Ali al-Hasoun as saying “The personnel of Mines Affairs Dept. in collaboration with Civil Defense in Basra conducted a survey to an area of 49 sq km and removed all the mines located in the area of Seeba Gas field thus spare the MoE large sums of money of about IQD 50 billion in case these works were conducted by a foreign company.”
