Integrity Commission: “Official arrested for bribery in Karbala,”

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Integrity Commission announced the arrest of a local official in the province of Karbala for being involved in the act of bribery and corruption.

The Commission said in a statement received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Thursday “Authorities have arrested the Director of the Department of the implementation of Hindiya district in Karbala province while he was receiving a bribe from a citizen.”

The Integrity Commission explained the facts of the case, saying that “The official [N. G. P] used his position to exploit a citizen for the promotion of specific transactions that belongs to the wife of the citizen and he was caught during his reception of the amount that had been prepared in advance and have pre-recorded figures.”

The statement pointed out that “The investigative judge of the Integrity Commission discovered that the defendant extorted the same citizen in previous operations with total amounts of seven million IQD.”
