Iraq, Egypt discuss bilateral coop. over reconstruction of liberated areas
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mohamed Halabousi on Saturday discussed with Egyptian Ambassador in Baghdad Alaa Moussa means of supporting reconstruction efforts in Iraq.
During the meeting, the two sides tackled means of promoting bilateral relations in the coming period as well as issues of common concern, Iraqi website Alghad Press quoted Halabousi’s media office as saying.
They also stressed the need to coordinate efforts at international forums and called for supporting a plan to reconstruct areas liberated from Islamic State terrorists across Iraq, added the statement.
Last year, UNESCO unveiled a plan to organize an international conference in Paris to support the Iraqi government in its bids to reconstruct the war-torn city of Mosul and other cities liberated from Islamic State group.
UNESCO will organize an international conference in Paris soon to support the Iraqi government in its efforts to rebuild Mosul and other liberated areas, in addition to restoring and maintaining Iraqi monuments, Director of the UNESCO office in Iraq Louise Haxthausen said.
She added that the conference will also discuss means of “helping the displaced people and attracting the largest number of donors to support Iraq in its reforms and reconstruction plans.”
