Iraq ranks 6th among most corrupt countries
(IraqiNews.com) In the Transparency International Association 2014 list of countries ranked according to the percentage of rampant corruption, Iraq is ranked 6th of the most corrupt countries—followed by South Sudan, Afghanistan, Sudan, North Korea and Somalia. The least corrupt country in the world is Denmark for the second consecutive year, followed by New Zealand, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Iraq’s position did not progress compared with last year, collecting 16 points and was also ranked 171 among 174 countries.
The Transparency International Association measures corruption of political parties, judicial systems and public services. The association says that its standards are based on public opinion, and that “corruption often includes illegal activities that are intentionally concealed”.
