Journalists celebrate Iraqi Press Day in Najaf

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The Preparatory committee of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate/ Najaf branch/ organized a celebration on the occasion of the (144th) anniversary of Iraqi Press Day.Member of the preparatory committee, Ahmed Diabil, reported in statement to IraqiNews.com ”The celebration, organized by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, in Najaf province is distinguished from any other celebration that may be held in other Iraqi provinces.””The celebration includes inaugurating the statue of the great poet, Mohamed Mahdi al-Jawahiri, for being the first chairman of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate.The Iraqi journalists celebrate the (144th) National Day anniversary of Iraqi Press on 15/ June every year since it is the date of issuing the first Iraqi newspaper (al-Zawra) on 14/ June/ 1869. \END\
