Justice Ministry to clarify circumstances of attacks on Taji, Abu Ghraib prisons today

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Justice will hold press conference today to clarify the circumstances of the armed attacks on Taji and Abu Ghriab prisons on last Sunday evening.

Unidentified gunmen attacked the two prisons last evening using IEDs, mortars and machine guns.

Security source told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The security forces foiled attempts to storm Abu Ghraib and Taji prisons in Baghdad through using helicopters.”

“Fierce fighting happened in the vicinity of the Taji and Abu Ghraib prisons,” the source added.

The escape of prisoners and the break-ins took place many times over the past year.
