Kuwait provided military support to counter ISIS, says Abadi
(IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi confirmed, during his visit to Kuwait, that his meeting with the head of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim addressed promoting the positive relations between the two countries, pointing out the review of all the relevant files.
Abadi said in a statement to reporters after his meeting with President Al Ghanim, “We look forward to freshening and strengthening the relations between the two countries,” stressing the keenness of both sides to overcome the former Baathist regime phase that has undermined the positive relations between the two brotherly peoples.
Abadi said that Iraq stands in the face of terrorism and ISIS, valuing Kuwait’s position with Iraq and the international coalition in the face of ISIS, also noted that Kuwait has provided Iraq with military assistance, and there is room to provide more in-depth assistance in the military field to face ISIS.
He stressed that Iraq is making progress in the face of the terrorist organization, and that ISIS fighters began to withdraw from several Iraqi sites.
