Kuwaiti deputy FM meets Iraqi officials on crucial files of mutual concern
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah held on Tuesday talks with Iraqi Foreign Ministry officials, topped by Undersecretary Nizar Khairallah, on crucial files of mutual concern and preparations for the seventh session of the joint higher committee.
Speaking to KUNA, Al-Jarallah said that his current visit to Iraq was part of consultations and coordination between the two countries and follow-up on the talks held in Kuwait during a visit by the Iraqi foreign undersecretary last year.
“Kuwait and Iraq are keen on maintaining contacts and building distinctive ties, based on solid foundations for service of their peoples’ interests,” he said
Al-Jarallah added that the talks touched on unresolved issues and dealt with preparations for the higher joint committee session, due in Kuwait in April.
For his part, Al-Khairallah confirmed that the Kuwait delegation mission in Baghdad is primarily designed to prepare for the upcoming mission meeting.
“There is political will on part of the two countries’ governments to elevate bilateral relations,” he said. The discussions with the Kuwaiti delegation dealt with future enterprises, commercial files and prospected “economic integration between the two countries,” Khairullah added.
