Ministry of Health sends 500 medical cases for treatment abroad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Health Ministry announced sending more than 500 patients with their companions for treatment outside Iraq at the expenses of the ministry during the month of July.

The director of international health at the ministry Ramzi Abdul Rasoul said in a press statement to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) that “The ministry sent 530 patients with their companions outside the country for treatment in Turkey, Iran, India and Lebanon.”

He added that “The cases which were sent included cases of open heart surgery for children , congenital malformations and some heart surgery for adults [complicated cases] in addition to ophthalmic complicated surgery, liver transplant, renal failure, bone marrow transplant and blood diseases [leukemia].”

Abdul Rasoul said “Patients with tumors who need radiation therapy were also sent abroad in addition to specialized medical cadres to accompany patients for special training and skills gaining.”
