Shia militia prepares to wage anti-ISIS jihad within 2 days

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, Iraq’s most powerful Shiite cleric and political leader, Moqtada al-Sadr has put his militia on alert to battle ISIS militants who have seized the city of Samarra.

Sadr’s Office stated today that Sadr has ordered the Peace Brigades fighters to be fully prepared to answer the call of Jihad within 48 hours after the city of Samarra was surrounded by ISIS militants. Sadr’s deputy, Abu Dua al-Isawi said, “The decision was made due to the imminent danger to the sacred city of Samarra from terrorists.”

The militia will await for instructions before taking further steps, according to the statement released al-Isawi.
