UN security council to discuss Iraq developments Tuesday
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The United Nations Security Council will hold a session on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the situation in Iraq.
The UN session will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 pm New York (10:00 pm Baghdad), according to a statement by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
UNAMI Head Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert is expected to brief the session shortly after it commences, the statement read.
Iraq has been engulfed in political turmoil and sectarian violence since the Islamic State militant group controlled much of northern and western Iraq and proclaimed the creation of a “caliphate”.
