17 civilians killed, injured in Baquba

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) 17 civilians were killed and injured as an initial statistics when a car bomb exploded in Khalis district in Diyala province.

Director of Diyala Police’s media office, Col. Ghalib Atiya told IraqiNews.com on Sunday that “A car bomb driven by a suicide bomber that was parked near a police checkpoint at entrance of Khalis district in north of Baquba city, capital of Diyala exploded and resulted in killing one civilian and injuring 16 others.”

“The suicide bomber was intending to drive the car inside the district and detonate it on the Husseini processions, noting that “the police transported the dead body to the morgue and the injured people to a hospital for treatment,” Atiya concluded.
