13 AQI operatives nabbed in Karbala

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi security forces on Tuesday arrested 13 men wanted for affiliation with the al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI) organization, who were planning to carry out “terror” operations in Karbala city. “The arrests took place in the al-Maqaleaa area, 30 km west of Karbala,” a security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He explained that the operation relied on intelligence tip off. “The forces seized documents on the arrested men showing terror plots they were planning to carry out in Karbala,” the source added. He noted that the interrogation is underway with the 13 men, because they are wanted in Hilla and Baghdad cities in addition to Karbala. The holy city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
