15 killed, 44 wounded by violence until Tues. afternoon

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A total of 15 persons were killed and 44 others were wounded as a result of acts of violence that occurred in different parts of Iraq from 09:00 p.m. Monday until this afternoon, security sources said. In Baghdad, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted a vehicle carrying electricity workers and another of the Iraqi army on Falastine street, near al-Mustansiriya square, wounding three of the workers and one Iraqi soldier. In Babel, unknown gunmen coming from Ramadi city attacked the tribes of al-Awsan and al-Awjan in a border area between Ramadi and Jarf al-Sakhr (northeastern Hilla city), sparking clashes that left 15 individuals killed and 40 others wounded. Meanwhile, security sources said that five members of the Popular Committees, including the group’s spokesman, were arrested south of Baaquba city, Diala. In Mosul, Iraqi army forces on Tuesday captured a gunman after he was injured in clashes that erupted in the east of the city. SS (P) 1
