3 people dead, 4 wounded in armed attack in Iraq’s Salahuddin
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) – Unidentified gunmen have stormed a house in the Iraqi province of Salahuddin, leaving seven people killed and wounded, a security service announced.
“Three people were martyred and four others wounded in an armed attack at a house in al-Mazare’ district in Salahuddin,” Iraqi website Almaalomah quoted the Security Media Cell as saying in a press statement without giving further details about the incident.
Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
