7 al-Qaeda elements detained in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Policemen on Tuesday arrested seven al-Qaeda elements in the northeast of Baaquba, the director of the national investigation department in Diala said. “Police forces launched a military operation in Jalawlaa district in Khaneqeen, northeast of Baaquba, where they arrested Zidan Abd Ahmad, bother of Abu Omar al-Boghdadi, leader of the Islamic state of Iraq group,” Colonel Mohamed Ghani al-Majmaai told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The forces arrested also seven senior al-Qaeda elements in the same region,” he added. Khanaqin district lies 155 km northeast of Baaquba, the capital of Diala province, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. SH (P)/SR 1
