9 wanted persons arrested in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Security forces arrested on Sunday nine men wanted on “criminal and terrorist” charges during a search raid in different areas of Basra, the province’s police media office said. “Policemen in Basra conducted search raids in different area of the province, arresting nine wanted persons suspected of involvement in terrorist and criminal cases,” the office told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A gun and a passport were seized with one of the detained men, in addition to the seizure of a Kalashnikov assault rifles, five hand-grenades and a stolen vehicle,” it added. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
