Al-Baghdadi failed his studies, was rejected from the army, says German newspaper
(IraqiNews.com) The German newspaper ‘Süddeutsche’ revealed new details about the past life of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi through interviews that were conducted with residents in the city of Samarra, the hometown of al-Baghdadi. According to their testimonies, he failed his studies and was rejected from former Iraqi Army.
The newspaper said in a report, quoting people in Samarra who knew al-Baghdadi, “He failed in each academic year because of his extremely poor level of English.”
The newspaper added, “Al-Baghdadi was considered one of the intermediate students in the school; his grades were very low and did not serve him to in joining the University of Baghdad to study law, so he studied Islamic Sharia instead, which contributed in his ideology of extremism.”
One of the city’s residents and n aex-Baghdadi neighbor stated that, “He loved having power and influence, and was the third of four brothers. He was rejected from the former Iraqi Army because he was short sighted.”
