Al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Legislature escapes assassination attempt

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature Abdullah al-Jibouri of al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has escaped an assassination attempt by an explosive charge blast in front of his house in northeast Iraq’s Diala Province on Sunday, a security source reported.   “An explosive charge blew off in front of the house of Legislature of Al-Iraqiya Coalition, Abdullah al-Jibouri, in Miqdadaiya township, 45 km to the east of Baaquba, the center of Diala Province, on Sunday, wounding one of his bodyguards and causing severe damage to his house, but Jibouri was not hurt,” Diala’s Police Media Director told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Noteworthy is that the said assassination attempt had been the third attempt targeting Jibouri since Iraq’s occupation by the US-led forces in 2003, as Jibouri had occupied the post of Diala’s Governor in the past.   SKH (TS) 496
