Armed men kill civilian in eastern Baghdad
Baghdad (IraqiNews) A police source informed, on Sunday, that a civilian was killed by an armed attack, in western the capital, Baghdad.
In a press statement, the source said that unknown gunmen shot a civilian, while he was passing in al-Kamaliyah area, killing him immediately.
The source added, on condition of anonymity, that security forces arrived in the area of incident and transferred the body to the forensic medicine department, while started investigating the circumstances of the incident.
It is noteworthy that violence in Iraq has surged with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.
The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
