Basra combined security centers in last stage of construction
BASRA, Sept. 20 (Iraqi News) – Multi National Forces (MNF) in southern Iraq said that work on Saturday commenced in the last stage of constructing Iraqi army-police combined security centers, to reinforce cooperation between them in Basra city. “Those centers aim at putting extremists and criminals away from the city, as they include advanced commanding and communication facilities that allow both army and police to work together, and to have a tangible presence in Basra streets,” said the spokesperson of MNF in southern Iraq. “The coming level will be to establish an iron ring of combined security centers around Basra edges,” he added. “MNF provide technical support, electricity, and communication devices required for this project’s success,” he noted. He referred that those centers are additional evidence of the improvement in Iraqi army and police abilities. The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad. MH (S)/SR 1
