BOC: 56 killed, wounded in Abu Ghraib blast

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The suicide bombing that occurred earlier today in Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib area has left 56 persons dead or wounded, according to an official source. “Twenty-eight persons were killed and 28 others were wounded in the suicide blast that occurred this afternoon in Abu Ghraib area,” a spokesperson for Baghdad’s Operations Command (BOC), Maj. Gen. Qassem Ata, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Earlier today, a police source said that an officer and a correspondent for al-Boghdadiya TV channel were among the dead. A suicide bomber blew himself up in a popular market in Abu Ghraib area, western Baghdad, targeting a meeting held by chieftains and security personnel. SS (P) 1
