Bomb blast leaves two paramilitary personnel injured, northeast of Diyala

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Two fighters of the pro-government paramilitary troops were injured in a bomb blast, northeast of Diyala, a security source said on Thursday.

“A bomb, placed north of Muqdadiyah town, went off while security personnel of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) were passing, leaving two of them injured,” the source told Baghdad Today website.

Security services rushed to the accident spot, according to the source who preferred anonymity. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, an Iraqi farmer was wounded in a bomb explosion, southwest of Baqubah.

A total of 79 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 99 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in July 2018, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

Baghdad was the worst affected Governorate, with 63 civilian casualties (30 killed, 33 injured), followed by Kirkuk (8 killed, 34 injured) and Nineveh (13 killed and 05 injured).

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
