Bomb targets Sunni Imam’s house, local official killed in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A roadside bomb went off on Sunday near a Sunni Imam’s house in western Baghdad, causing no casualties, while unknown gunmen on Saturday night (July 10) assassinated the public relations director of the Baghdad Provincial Council. “A roadside bomb went off near the house of Sheikh Sabah al-Hammad, Imam of the al-Gaylani mosque in Abu-Ghraib area, western Baghdad,” a local police source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He noted that the blast left no casualties, but caused damage to the Imam’s house and nearby houses. “Unknown gunmen opened fire last night targeting Maythem Shqair, public relations director of the Baghdad Provincial Council, at the al-Harthiya neighborhood, western Baghdad,” the source added.
