Car blows up in Karbala causing several casualties

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: A booby-trapped car blew up on Sunday night close to a police checkpoint in Hindiya township of southwest Iraq’s Karbala city, causing a number of casualties, eyewitnesses said. The incident was the the third of its kind in Karbala on Sunday, during a time that Karbala is witnessing celebrations on the 40th Anniversary of Imam Hussein Bin-Ali’s Martyrdom Day. “An explosive charge blew up targeting a checkpoint between Hindiya township, 20 km to the east of Karbala and Abu-Gharaq village, 10 km to the east of Hindaiya township, killing a visitor and injuring 13 others, who were driven to hospital for treatment,” an eyewitness told IraqiNews.com news agency. Karbala Province had witnessed 2 explosions that killed 2 visitors and injured 13 others, followed by a booby-trapped car explosion in an agricultural farm, the details of which were not known.
