Cop killed, 3 wounded in accident in Anbar
ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: A policeman was killed and three others were wounded on Friday in an accident near the city of Haditha , a police source said. “A police vehicle patrol turned over on the highway near the city of Haditha , Anbar province,” a police source told IraqiNews.com. “four police men were wounded in the accident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he explained, noting that one of them died of wounds. Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad . Anbar is the largest province in Iraq geographically. Encompassing much of the country’s western territory, it shares borders with Syria , Jordan and Saudi Arabia . Anbar is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim Arab. Anbar’s main cities are Falluja, the capital Ramadi, Haditha, Hit, Aana and Rutba. The name of the province translates “granaries,” as this region was the primary entrepôt on the western borders of Lakhmid Kingdom .
