Deputy premier discusses future of security strategy of Anbar
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Rafeaa al-Eissawi on Friday chaired a meeting to discuss the future of the security strategy of Anbar within the new local government. “Al-Eissawi chaired a meeting at his office in Baghdad, attended by ministers of interior and national security, Jawad al-Boulani and Sirwan al-Waeli as well as a number of members of the Anbar provincial council,” said a statement of al-Eissawi’s office received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The meeting tackled the future of the security strategy of Anbar within the new government,” it added. Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. Anbar is the largest province in Iraq geographically. Encompassing much of the country’s western territory, it shares borders with Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Anbar is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim Arab. Anbar’s main cities are Falluja, the capital Ramadi, Haditha, Hit, Aana and Rutba. SH (P) 1
