Diala demonstrations to reject declaration as ‘region’

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Diala province has witnessed several demonstrations, expressing rejection of a proposal to declare the province an independent “Region,” according to the security chairman of the Province on Tuesday. “Most of Diala Province’s towns, such as Baaquba, Baladruz and Miqdadiya, have witnessed broad demonstrations, expressing rejection of the proposla of a region,” Muthanna al-Tamimi told IraqiNews.com news agency. The local authorities in northeast Iraq‘s Diala Province have announced on Monday their intention to transform the Province into a “Region,” along with keeping the unity of Iraq and commitment to the Constitution, after the signing of the majority of the Province’s Council Members to form the “Region,” according to the Iraqi law. /SR 655
