Female suicide bomber kills 9 in Diala
DIALA/IraqiNews.com: A female suicide bomber detonated explosives outside a courthouse Wednesday in central Baquba, killing nine people, Diala police said. “The bombing left nine individuals killed, among the victims were four soldiers and a police officer”, Maj. Ghalib al-Karkhi from Diala police told IraqiNews.com The police officer did not elaborate further details, but said “the blast wounded 17 others”. On Tuesday, Iraqi authorities arrested a 38-year-old woman, Ibtisam Adwan, suspected of heading up the recruitment of female suicide bombers, Iraq’s Defense Ministry said. Adwan was arrested in a village east of Baquba, ministry spokesman Mohammed al-Askari said. She is suspected of being directly involved in the training of Rania Ibrahim, 15, who was caught at a market a few weeks ago with explosives strapped to her waist. More than 30 female suicide bombers have triggered explosions so far in 2008. Half of them were in Diyala province. AM(S) 1
