Four tribal fighters killed, injured in attempt to detonate bomb, west of Anbar

“A bomb, from the remnants of war against Islamic State, was placed under an electricity pylon in al-Akba region in Hit town. It exploded as conscripts of the tribal fighters were trying to detonate it, leaving one killed, and three others injured,” the source told Almaalomah website.
“Security troops cordoned off the blast scene and carried out a campaign in search for others bombs,” the source added.
On Saturday, armed people attacked a convoy for al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) in Sad al-Khuzeimi region, west of Rutba in Anbar, as the personnel were heading toward other provinces for a vacation. One personnel was killed, while eight others were injured.
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
A total of 76 people were killed and 129 others were injured due to acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflicts during the month of June, casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
