Fuel tank explodes in Najaf

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) A Tank filled with Gasoil exploded in Salam neighborhood of northern Najaf.The Director of Media Office in the Civil Defense Department, Ali Toaj, stated to IraqiNews.com “About 10 AM of Wednesday morning the tank, which is filled with (Gasoil), exploded during the unloading process of the gasoil to an electricity generator that belongs to the Communication Company, Korek, in the residential neighborhood al-Salam of northern Najaf province,” noting that “The explosion caused a huge fire amid the houses of citizens.””The civil defense team surrounded the area and evacuated the houses of their owners before the fire reaches them,” he added.”The teams managed to put out the fire without any human casualties, but there were some material damages to the houses nearby,” he pointed out, stressing that “The fire was caused due an electric short circuit.” \
