Gang leader caught assuming identity of media person

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Wednesday arrested the leader of a kidnap and murder gang, who assumed the identity of a media man, during a police ambush in Karbala, according to a local police chief. “The man is the leader of a gang specialized in murder and kidnap. He has also been involved in several kidnaps in Syria, to which he escaped one year ago,” Staff Maj. Gen. Ali Jassem Mohammed told IraqiNews.com news agency. The gangster, called Ahmed Abdulamir, carried a fake identity card with the name of Ali Muhsin Sahn, a media man, the official explained. Abdulamir was arrested in a house in Aim al-Tamr City (85 km west of Karbala). Preliminary investigations are currently underway, the official added.
