Gunmen kill civilian, wound another in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: One civilian was killed and another was wounded in an armed attack by gunmen in Diala’s al-Saadiya district, a senior security source said on Tuesday. “Last night, unknown men launched an armed attack in al-Saadiya district, Khanaqin, killing one civilian and wounding another,” the head of the district, Sheikh Ahmed al-Zarkoushi, told IraqiNews.com. The wounded was taken to al-Saadiya Public Hospital, while the gunmen have fled to an unknown destination, according to Zarkoushi. Diala province, a mix of Sunnis and Shiites, extends to the northeast of Baghdad as far as the Iranian border. Its capital is Baaquba, 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
