Human Rights Watch: ISIL executed 160 people in Tikrit in June
(IraqiNews.com) On Friday, the organization Human Rights Watch announced that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Iraq killed at least 160 people since the beginning of June in Tikrit. This information was based on analyses of photographs taken by satellite and graphic images published by ISIL on their website.
The organization said that “militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant killed between 160 and 190 men in two locations in Tikrit, in the period from 11 to 14 June.”
The organization added that “It may be the number of victims is much larger, but the difficulty of monitoring the locations of dead bodies and access to the areas prevented a full investigation,” pointing out that “the information came upon analyses of satellite photographs taken and shocking images published by the militants on their website” .
