IED blast in Baghdad leaves 4 killed
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Three Iraqi army soldiers and one civilian man were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the house of a pro-government sahwa (awakening) tribal fighter in western Baghdad went off on Sunday, a military source said. “The IED, emplaced among others around the house of a sahwa fighter in Abu Ghraib area, western Baghdad, left three Iraqi servicemen and one civilian local resident killed,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The accident occurred when an Iraqi army force headed to the house of a sahwa fighter in the area of al-Zidan, Abu Ghraib district, to remove several IEDs planted around the fighter’s house,” he added. “While the force were defusing the charges, one of them went off and caused others to explode, leaving that number of deaths and causing severe damage to the house and its surrounding areas,” he said.
