IEDs, rockets seized in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi army force seized improvised explosive devices (IEDs), munitions and three Grad rockets ready for firing north of al-Kut city on Sunday, a local security source in Wassit said. “The seized Grad rockets were ready for firing but were seized near the Taq Kisra, al-Mada’in area in northern Wassit,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The force also seized a cache of munitions weighing 1500 kilograms, four IEDs and mortar shells of different sizes,” he added. The source said that the bomb squad personnel defused the three rockets which he said were found thanks to intelligence tip-offs. Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
