Iraqi troops arrest suspected terrorists in Baghdad
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security forces killed a terrorist element and arrested eight others during raids at different areas of Diyala province, security media reported.
According to the Security Media Center, troops carried out a raid at a farmland in Khanaqin, killing a terrorist element who possessed an automatic gun and a hand grenade. Eight others were also arresed at separate raids, including one nicknamed “Abu Abdullah”, a logistics officer at the Islamic State’s so-called “Diyala Province”.
Iraq declared victory over Islamic State militants by the end of 2017, ending a three-year war against the extremist group, but security continues to hunt for group vestiges and struggle against occasional attacks claimed by the group.
