Iraqi army detains 9 Basra council’s guards

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi army forces on Friday stormed the Basra local council and arrested an officer and eight guards, an official source said. “An Iraqi army force stormed the Basra provincial council on Friday morning (June 19) and arrested an officer and eight guards without mentioning the reason,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Basra council held a meeting to issue a decision on this incident,” he added. He pointed out that this is the second incident of its kind after arresting two council’s members before releasing them. Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad. SH (P) 1
