Iraqi Parliament delegation in Kirkuk on fact-finding mission after stepping up of assassinations
KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi Parliament’s delegation has arrived in north Iraq ’s city of Kirkuk on Wednesday to follow up facts in the aftermath of the stepping up of assassinations and terrorist acts in the Province, according to the official in charge of the media office of the Iraqi Turkoman Front. “After the announcement of the Iraqi Parliament’s Speaker, Usama al-Nujeify, about the formation of a new parliamentary committee, representing different parliamentary groups to investigate facts towards the escalation of assassinations and terrorist operations in Kirkuk , a Parliamentary delegation has arrived in Kirkuk ,” Nermin al-Mufty told IraqiNews.com news agency. She said that the formation of the Committee has taken place in response to a request by the Legislature, Arshad al-Salehy and a number of Legislatures, who confirmed the formation of the Parliamentary committee to carry out the said mission. “The delegation, comprising Ibrahim al-Mahmiry and Arshad al-Salehy from al-Iraqiya List and Khalid Shiwany from the Kurdistan Alliance and the Christian Legislature Imad Youkhanna, would confer today with the Legislative and Executive Authority and the Security Bodies in Kirkuk Province ,” she stressed. Noteworthy is that Kirkuk, 280 km to the northeast of Baghdad, had witnessed a number of assassinations, executed by unknown groups, aimed against doctors and intellectuals in the Province, over the past few weeks. The Turkoman Front had charged the local administration in Kirkuk Province and the Iraqi Parliament with responsibility for the said incidents in the Province. SKH (RT)
