Iraqi premier to pay several-hours visit to Saudi Arabia Wednesday
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi is set to pay a visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to discuss means of reducing regional tensions following the last week’s drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
During his several-hours visit, the Iraqi premier will meet with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Baghdad Today quoted Abdul Mahdi’s media office as saying in a press statement.
The talks will focus on means of promoting relations between the two countries and Iraq’s firm stance to defuse tensions and conflicts in the region, the statement added.
The visit comes nine days after drone attacks targeted two vital oil facilities belonging to Saudi Arabia’s state-run oil company Aramco that the U.S. blamed on Iran.
